An Ode to Crunch

It's a few months in to my crunchy journey and I really feel like I'm making a difference in my life and my family's life. I tip my hat to the leaders in this industry who research everything under the sun, new companies that were created to make our lives cleaner, greener and safer, the crunchy friends I have in person (shout out to Ruchika Kumar and her wonderful work in sustainable textiles) and online, and most of all, my husband for being the biggest supporter of my blog and our new lifestyle, even when I seem a little crazy!

In tribute to all of us leading the crunchy life when it's so much easier just to be mainstream:

Here’s to the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The troublemakers. The round pegs in the square holes.

The ones who see things differently. They’re not fond of rules. And they have no respect for the status quo. You can praise them, disagree with them, quote them, disbelieve them, glorify or vilify them.

About the only thing you can’t do is ignore them. Because they change things. They invent. They imagine. They heal. They explore. They create. They inspire. They push the human race forward.

Maybe they have to be crazy.

How else can you stare at an empty canvas and see a work of art? Or sit in silence and hear a song that’s never been written? Or gaze at a red planet and see a laboratory on wheels?

While some see them as the crazy ones, we see genius.

Because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones who do.

["Think Different" is an advertising slogan created for Apple Computer in 1997 by the Los Angeles office of advertising agency TBWA\Chiat\Day.]

The world will change for the better by each of us doing our part. Our children will have a brighter future because of our actions. I have to believe it and I have to live it.

Hope you all have a wonderful new year!
